Roy Lynn Johnson's Obituary
Roy Lynn Johnson, 79, passed away on February 17, 2026.
Roy was born on March 28, 1946, in Henderson, Texas, to Eunice Wilburn Jones and Jabe
Johnson. He grew up in Henderson and graduated from Henderson High School in 1964.
After high school, he served in the Air Force Reserve for two years.
Roy owned and managed Shawnee Air Conditioning from 1966 to 2012, at which time he
retired. During those years, he also worked as a general contractor, electrician, and
plumber. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being a pilot and
flight instructor.
While he was hardworking and business-minded early on, he spent his later years fishing
as much as possible with his sidekick and best friend, Bill Johnston.
Roy is survived by his children: Stacy Schuler and husband, David, of Tyler; Jennifer
Romines of Tyler; Je Johnson and wife, Jennifer, of Henderson; and Amanda Johnson and
wife, Renee, of Henderson.
His grandchildren include Micah Johnson and wife, Farrah; Drake Adkins; John Adkins and
wife, Shania; Taylor Winebarger and husband, Addison; Madelyn Stegall and husband, Erik.
Allyson Hale; and Mollie Johnson. Roy is also survived by great-grandchildren Brylie,
Harlynn, Renn, Micah, and William, as well as his siblings Lavalle (Bubba) Duncan and
wife, Jane, and Raye Youngblood.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Debra Johnson; his mother, Eunice Jones.
his father, Jabe Johnson, and wife, Louise; and siblings Wilburn (Will) Johnson, Jimmy
Johnson, Jo Nell Lowrey, Helen Morris, Olin Johnson, Joe Gail Duncan, and Kaye Munson.
A graveside service, officiated by Mark Johnson, will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026,
at 2:00 p.m. at Rusk County Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the hospital staff at Christus Trinity Mother Frances of Tyler,
caregivers Arlene White and Marcus Britton, and the many friends and family for their care,
support and compassion during this time.
“Though our hearts are broken, we celebrate a life well lived and the love that will remain
with us forever.”
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to Hospice of East Texas.
