Roy Hunt's Obituary
Roy Ernest Hunt was born February 1, 1937 and passed on March 25, 2025. A memorial service for Roy will be held at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson on Saturday, March 29 at 2 pm. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Roy began his education years at Gaston ISD. Graduated from London High School in the class of 1955, where he & Peggy were elected Mr. & Miss London High School. Roy also served as his senior class Vice President.
Roy loved all sports and excelled at all in which he participated. His dream was to play
college football; however, a high school injury changed that dream.
He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees at Stephen F Austin State University.
Roy's first teaching position was at Deer Park ISD where he taught Biology and Physical
Science, coached sports, drove a school bus and taught Driver's Ed. After 13 years in Deer Park, Roy went into school administration in West Orange and Killeen TX ISDs.
In 1987, Roy and Peggy took the opportunity to return to East Texas. They purchased the last full-service gas station in Henderson where a thriving business was built and is still operating. He made many friends among his treasured customers. Roy loved his community and was an active member to include serving as a proud Rotarian. He was a member of South Main Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon until his health began to decline. Roy loved the Lord and loved his church family.
Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years Peggy Ford Hunt, his children Tami Hunt Hale, Tracy Hunt and wife Kim, all of Henderson. Roy will be missed by his granchildren Chelsea Hale from Tyler, Alli Hunt Peacock (Jeremy), Tori Hunt Green ( Clayton) from Henderson and his great grandchildren Jack Hale from Waco, Maxtyn Peacock from Henderson. We can't leave out Roy's precious little protector Miss Mattie Hunt (his beloved chiweenie) as one that will surely miss him as well. Roy was preceded in death by his parents RA Hunt and Ethel Little Hunt, sisters Lois Lynch, LaNell Massa, and his parents-in-law Leon O Ford and Mattie Dodson Ford.
