Roy D. Lineberger's Obituary
Roy D. "Buck" Lineberger of Hallsville, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24th. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 27th at the First Baptist Church of Hallsville at 2:00pm, where he was a very active, long time member. Family visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home on Judson Road in Longview on Thursday, November 26th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Tommye. He is father of seven children, who greatly loved and admired him. Genia Norris and her husband Larry, Jerry Shrewood, Sue Brown and her husband Mike, Roy Linberger Jr., Debi Hill and her husband Dick, Tommy Lineberger and Donna Lineberger.
He is the proud Poppa of 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, to whom he left a great legacy of how to live a Christian life, love unconditionally and give hugs as often as you can!
He is also survived by one sister, Francis Head and many loving nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, W. C. and Eunice Lineberger and his sister Ella Mae Fanning.
Pallbearers are his grandsons; Shane Sherwood, Lance Norris, Jeromy Calhoun, Mark Matthews, Bryan Matthews, LCPL Cody Hill & Garrett Hill.
Honorary pallbearers; L. A. Stanley, Jack Ford, Maurice Jones and members of his Sunday School Class.
Because of his love for his country and strong patriotism, Buck served in the Navy during WWII on the U.S.S Sovereign of the Seas.
One of his great loves was serving in the church. He was involved in many area of service thru the years. He taught for 53 years and touched many lives. One of the greatest accomplishments was being ordained to the ministry at the age of 82.
He loved having family and friends around and watching Dallas Cowboys & Texas Longhorns.
We know his greatest desire is for us to continue to live our lives as he did his – to honor the Lord.
The family would like to extend a very gracious, heart felt thanks to Dr. Donty and the ICU Staff at Longview Regional Hospital for the special care they gave to our "Pop"
