Roy Coones' Obituary
Roy Coones was born on May 16, 1926 and went to be with our Lord on October 5, 2014. He was surrounded by family as he entered the Heavenly Kingdom.
Roy was an avid golfer who participated in many golf tournaments and taught his children to love the sport. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater at the end of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dollie Coones; his wife, Dorothy Coones; and his beloved grandson, Drew Stratton. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Marie Davis, Iva Dell Woods, Mary Lee McCoy, and Lonnie Coones.
He is survived by his children: Danny Coones of Longview, Bobby Coones and wife, Cindy of Longview, Barbara Compton of Grapevine, and Sharon Stratton of Longview; grandchildren: Brent Coones and wife, Mary, Jace Coones, Noah Stratton and wife, Autumn, Whitney Compton, and Lauren Compton; and great-grandchildren: Lucy Stratton, and Brent Coones, Jr. He is also survived by his brothers: Gene Coones, Ed Coones, and Don Coones.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 6 until 7 pm at Rader Funeral Home with services to be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 9, 2014 in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel.
