Roy C. Dorsey's Obituary
Funeral services for Roy C. Dorsey, 86, of Longview will be at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 2pm on Tuesday March 16, 2010. With visitation Monday 6pm to 8pm. Mr. Dorsey was born May 20, 1923 in Hallsville Texas to Isaac and Jessie Dorsey.
Roy graduated from Hallsville High School in 1940. He joined the US Navy and served his country in New Caledonia during World War II. Mr. Dorsey was a Boy Scout Master remaining life long friends with two scouts Danny Selman and Steve Barker. Roy was selected in 1960 as Scout Master for the Longview Boy Scouts of America Troop attending the 50th National Jamboree in Colorado Springs.
He was very accomplished with Do-It-Yourself projects. He enjoyed traveling all fifty states of the US and Canada with his wife, Inez, and friends Ray and Vida Colwell. Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Dorsey, his parents and four brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter; Deborah Jernigan and her husband Denny of Carthage, sister; Wilma Stracener of Longview, brother; Bill Dorsey and his wife Betty of Wichita Falls, and two granddaughters; Denise and Amy Jernigan of Dallas.
