Roy L. "Bud" Berry's Obituary
Roy L. “Bud” Berry was born January 13, 1928 and passed away October 2, 2016 at the age of 88. Bud is preceded in death by his wife, Mary S. Berry; sons David, Roy, and Brian Berry; daughter-in law Bobbie Berry; parents Frank and Fleetie Berry; two brothers, Doyle and Hubert Berry; and grandson Michael Berry.
Bud deeply loved his family. He is survived by daughter, Carol Haynes of Kilgore; son James Berry and wife, Lee Ann, of Hallsville; son Billy Berry of Kilgore; and two sisters, Betty Erickson of Big Sandy and Frances Delk of Quitman. He also included his wife’s daughter, Jenny Brown of Lewisville, as one of his own. Bud has multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His passions were fishing and bowling. He was such an avid fisherman, he had Catalpa Trees in his yard so he could have all the Catawba Worms he needed for any spur of the moment fishing trip. He was a league bowler for many years and even had bragging rights of a perfect 300 game.
Bud served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was retired from Red Ball Motor Freight where he started working at age 18. He attended Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview for approximately 35 years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 6 at 2:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
