Roy Beal Thomas
Roy Beal Thomas was born February 8, 1914 and passed away on March 4, 2010, at 96 years of age.
Beal was born in Sand Flat, Texas one of four children, to Annie Culpepper and Oscar Thomas. The family moved to Hawkins, Texas to begin his education and then to Hallsville at the age of nine.
On January 16, 1938 he married Katie Nelwyn Kuykendall, the love of his life and their marriage lasted 59 years.
He is survived by his sons; R. Beal Thomas, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; and John R. Thomas and wife Debra of Dallas, TX.; grandchildren, Salena Colburn, Cari Tanner, and Chris Calandro; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Alpine House, and to Odyssey Health Care for their loving care of Beal.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday March 7, 2010 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.
Graveside services will be held at Two O'clock pm Monday March 8, 2010 at Gum Springs Cemetery with Reverend David English officiating. Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
