Rowe Anne was born December 4, 1935 in Calion, Arkansas to Benjamin Rowe Clawson and Mary Nunley Clawson. Rowe Anne graduated from Norphlet High School in 1953 where she was a star basketball player for the Norphlet Leopards. While her sweetheart, Bill Delk, was in the Army, Rowe Anne went to local trade school and then to work at Lion Oil Refinery in El Dorado, AR. When Bill finished his duties in the Army and returned to the states, they were married on December 29, 1956, and moved to Longview, Texas so Bill could attend LeTourneau College. Rowe Anne worked as a secretary for several oil businesses in Longview until they had their only child and she stayed home to raise him. She then went back to work and retired from SOHIO Pipeline Co., where she served as a personal secretary for several of the leadership team. After retirement, Rowe Anne continued to use her skills working for several local attorneys. Bill and Rowe Anne were active members for their entire adult lives at Mobberly Baptist Church, where Rowe Anne taught 9th grade girls’ Sunday School, was a choir member, and was involved in the Senior Programs, which she so enjoyed.
Rowe Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William H. “Bill” Delk; her parents, a brother and a sister, and is survived by her youngest brother Col. Ben Clawson (retired) and his wife Aileen of Oviedo, FL; son Ray Delk and wife Leigh Anne of Marshall; grandsons William Reagan Delk and wife Staci of Texarkana; Austin Harris Delk and wife Carley of Jonesborough, TN; and 3 great grandchildren: Raylee Carol Delk, Jenni Marie Delk and William Thomas Delk, as well as 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
