Rose Marie Duke's Obituary
Rose Marie Duke, 84, of Longview passed away Tuesday February 1, 2011 in Longview. Marie was born June 10, 1926 to Lucy and Burton Smith, in Albertville, Alabama. She graduated from Albertville High School in 1945, and then worked at Boaz Electric Company. She met the love of her life, Ralph Duke, in the spring of 1948, was engaged by December 1948 and married September 3, 1949. She and her husband settled in Longview in 1951, where they were members of Winterfield United Methodist Church since 1958. Her family was her life. Marie was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and watching the Texas Rangers.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Duke; son, Mike and Jennifer Duke; daughters, Betty Jane and Allen Wilson all of Longview; Joyce Ann and Bruce Ballard of Austin. Marie had seven grandchildren Katharine and Kyle Cook, Jennifer and Adam Wiggins, Valerie Wilson, Kevin Duke, Angela Duke, Denise Ballard and Hannah Duke; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Caroline Cook.
Services for Marie Duke will be Thursday February 3, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 12 noon with Pastor Rita Sims officiating. Entombment will follow after at Rosewood Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
