Rosa Richkie Lamb's Obituary
Rosa Richkie Lamb died on May 29, 2011 at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview. Rosa Nell Richkie was born February 10, 1911 in Longview to Louis and Nellie Henry Richkie. Her siblings were Henry Heidtman, Malcolm Heidtman, Mary and Sara Richkie. She attended Campus Ward Elementary School and Longview High School, from which she graduated with honors in 1928, having been president of her senior class and Lobo Sponsor Sweetheart. At William Woods College later University, Fulton, Missouri, she was an honor student, chemistry assistant, and on the student council. In 1932 she graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, being a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and serving on the Women's Self-Government Association Board.
Rosa taught school in Longview until January 23, 1936 when she married Guy Lance Lamb. At one time she was a member of Bethany Bible Club, Longview Study Club and the Shakespeare Club. During World War II she served on the Red Cross Nutrition Committee. At one time she was president of Southward P-TA. She was a member of American Association of University Women and the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, teacher and Chairman of the Christian Nurture Committee.
She and her husband were supportive of the Longview Art Museum, Gregg County Historical Foundation, Longview Symphony, Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas Symphony.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Guy Lance Lamb and is survived by her sons: David Louis Lamb, and Stephen Lance Lamb and wife Betty D. Lamb; daughter: Lou Lamb Corones and husband Dr. James P. Corones; sister-in-law: Yoniko Heidtman; nephew: Frank Henry Heidtman; grandchildren: Stephen T. Lamb and wife Kendra, Alexander L. Lamb and wife Barbara, Michael Corones and Matthew Corones; great grandson: Alexander Lance Lamb and great granddaughters: Elizabeth Ann Lamb, Anna Nell Lamb, Lauren Nicole Lamb and Chloe Laine Lamb; niece Gayle Whitehurst Hansen and husband Dr. Jim Hansen; great nieces: Lisa Hottman Baca and husband Hugh, Lauren Hottman Scherer and husband John; great great nephew Michael Baca; sister-in-law: Minnie Jean Lamb Ruzicka; niece: Bette Ann Mahoney and her son Brian and various cousins.
Memorial services will be 11 AM Friday, June 3, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek and Dr. W. D. O'Neil officiating. Inurnment will be in Memory Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Habitat for Humanity or Highway 80 Mission.
