Rosa Lea Cleveland's Obituary
Rosa Lea was born to Miller Martin and Annie Laura King Ogle on June 21, 1912, in Moss Springs community near New Boston, Texas. She passed from this life on March 5, 2012. She grew up in Rotan, Texas where she attended school, worked as a telephone operator, and married R.M. Cleveland, who took his bride to Kilgore, Texas during early oil boom days. The Clevelands later moved with their three children to Shell pipeline pump stations near Douglas and Goodrich. In retirement the couple returned to Northeast Texas making their home in Hallsville. She recently resided at Westminster Place and Summer Meadows in Longview.
A lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, Rosa Lea led her family in the life of faith and worship. She belonged to United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School, worked in the PTA and participated in all community activities that involved her children. Rosa Lea also belonged to the Hallsville Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and held several offices including Worthy Matron.
Rosa Lea was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert M. "Bobby" Cleveland. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Theresa Cleveland; and Dale and Clara Cleveland; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Conrad Winborn; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Hallsville United Methodist Church at 2 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery.
