Ronald Stephen Scott's Obituary
Ronald Stephen Scott, age 80, died in Longview on May 1, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He had recently returned home under hospice care after a hospital stay that began on December 9, 2023. Mr. Scott was a survivor of polio.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with a visitation beginning at 10:00.
Ron was born on August 20, 1943, in Seminole, OK to his parents Jack Shirley Scott and Lois Bynum Scott. He attended grade schools in Oklahoma and Kansas. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, CA in 1961. He returned to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, graduating in 1964.
Following his graduation, he began work for an engineering firm in Dallas, TX then later transferred to Longview, TX in 1967 at which time he met his future wife. Ron and Melinda were married at First Baptist Church of Longview on December 6, 1968.
He also worked for several architectural firms, Sun Pipeline, Mid Valley Pipeline, and Kirby Restaurant Supply during his career in Longview. Later in his life he became self-employed.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Jerry Scott of Sulfur, OK. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Scott, his younger brother Ross Scott of California and his fur baby Charlie who spent all day, every day at Ron’s Feet under his desk.
