Ronald W. Sawyer's Obituary
Services for Mr. Ronald Sawyer will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Sawyer passed into glory on Saturday, December 24, 2022, in Longview TX.
Ronald Sawyer was born in Gladewater, TX on June 6, 1948, to parents Tom and Ernestine Sawyer. He attended and graduated from Gladewater High School where he was a tennis champion. He enlisted in the Army following his graduation serving in Vietnam. After honorably serving this county, Ronald was led back to East Texas and Longview where he worked for the Gregg County Sheriff’s Department. He had other career stops until eventually retiring from Lebus Manufacturing in 2012. Ronnie was a man of faith, a lifelong UT Football fan, and loved to hunt with his friends. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and friend.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Tom Sawyer as well as multiple cherished Aunts and Uncles. Those left to cherish their memories of Ronald include his wife of forty-five years, Nelda Sawyer; daughter Stacy Knipe with her husband Randy; grandchildren Kelly Williamson and her husband Zac, Dalton Knipe and Kristin Knipe; and his mother Ernestine Sawyer. Ronald was a beloved brother to Tom and Debbi Sawyer, Jan Blalock, Karen and Danny Lancaster, Annette Corbin and Patti McIntyre. Ronald will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
