Ronald Meirl Rasberry's Obituary
Ronald Meirl Rasberry passed away peacefully at the age of 78. He was born on January 16, 1948, in Gladewater, Texas, to Jim and Mary Jane Rasberry. Brother to Jim, Tom and Mark.
Ron was the proud owner of East Texas Claims Service, where he built a highly respected career through hard work and dedication. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Kathy Shirley, and together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage and built a strong and loving family.
Anyone who knew Ron, knows he was an avid fisherman and taught Kathy to love the sport as well. He hosted many wonderful fish frys that everyone adored and looked forward to. His high school football career transitioned to fastpitch softball and coaching his girl’s teams for many years. He coached Loni countless hours to become an exceptional softball pitcher through school and college.
Ron sang in the church choir at Whitehouse United Methodist Church for 17 years and loved every minute. He always took great pride in maintaining a pristine yard and camping with his family was a highlight in his life.
He will be remembered for his devotion to God and his family, silly songs and excellent work ethic. After retirement, Ron and Kathy enjoyed traveling the world for many years with Israel being a notable highlight.
Ron is survived by his wife, Kathy; his three daughters, Ronna, Blair and Loni; and his cherished grandchildren, Emory, Blaine, Nancy, Jack, Evelyn, Baron and Penny; and brothers Jim and Mark Rasberry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm at The Church at West Mountain, 6259 US Hwy 271 S, Gilmer, Texas.
If desired, donations in memory of Ron may be made to The Church at West Mountain’s building fund.
