Ronald B. McCune's Obituary
Ron McCune was born September 17, 1933 in Madison, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Catherine McCune.
After graduating from Sewickely High School, Ron continued on to what was then known as LeTourneau Technical Institute in Longview, Texas. Upon graduation he was employed by Lone Star Steel until being drafted into the US Army, where he served for two years at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. After serving his country, Ron began his 35 year career at the R.G. LeTourneau Company. As an engineer, his job took him to 36 states and multiple countries and he was honored to have served as a personal assistant to Mr. R.G. “Pop” LeTourneau during his tenure at the company.
His lifelong hobby and passion was auto racing and he participated as both a driver and a car owner. In recent years he enjoyed watching and following his son’s participation in the sport.
Ron was married for nearly 62 years to Johnnie, whom he met in Atlanta, Texas in 1954. They both considered themselves fortunate to have married their best friend. Their marriage produced their son Doug who is married to Lee Ann. They also have a daughter Kelly, who is married to David Tubbs. Ron also has two beautiful granddaughters, Jordan McCune and Audrey Jones, that he was always ready to brag about. Constantly at his side was his beloved dog Mylee Jo.
