Ronald G. Glass' Obituary
Ronald G. Glass, survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jenny Glass and children: Ron Glass of Phoenix, Ariz.; Rhonda Bullard of Longview and her husband, Rod; Kathy Broussard of Houston and her husband, Dane; and Robin Glass of New York City, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2004. Ron is also survived by his three grandchildren, Ashley, Cade, and Chase Bullard, all of Longview, and good family friend Bill Detty. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Lorene, and brother, Gary; and survived by his brother Sam and his wife, Donna of Maryland.
Ron was born in Hayward, Missouri May 12, 1936. He developed a strong work ethic in the cotton fields of Missouri and became an outstanding athlete, playing football and baseball. However, the game that became the love of his life was golf. Even after multiple heart attacks, congestive heart failure and a heart transplant in Oct. 1995, Ron recovered best with a club in his hand.
His high school sweetheart, constant companion ? the love of his life, Jenny, became his wife on Jan. 23, 1954. After serving four years in the Air Force in Biloxi, Miss., they moved to Huntsville, Ala. Where Ron worked with the Missile Division of Chrysler Corporation at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center. In 1972, Ron moved his family to Longview, and after owning his own business, Ron joined LeTourneau, Inc. as Vice President of Sales in 1974. After 20 years, Ron concluded his career with medical retirement in 1994.
Ron will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, a wonderful father to his four children and the best Papaw in the world to his three grandchildren. His friends and family knew his to be honest, loyal, and trustworthy. He was a man of his word, with tremendous integrity. Ron was well loved and will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home Thursday, June 10th. Services will be 2 PM Friday, June 11th at the First Baptist Church of Longview, with graveside services to follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
