Ronald Edward Duncan, Jr. 61, passed away at his home on Monday, April 20, 2026, with his wife by his side.
Ron was born on October 2, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, to Ronald Edward Duncan, Sr. and Dorothy Helen Willis-Duncan. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1982 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1983 to 1989.
In 1990, Ron began a distinguished career in law enforcement after attending the East Texas Police Academy. He served with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office from 1990 to 1993, then with the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department from 1993 to 2002. From 2002 to 2009, he worked with the Kilgore Police Department as both a patrol officer and detective. He later returned to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, serving as Chief Deputy from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, Ron joined the Longview Police Department, where he served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and member of the Police Outreach Services Team. He retired in 2024 as a Texas Master Peace Officer, concluding a remarkable 34-year career in law enforcement.
Beyond the badge and his career, Ron was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who deeply loved his family. From the moment he met Claudia, the love of his life, in 2009, it was clear to all who knew them how much he loved and adored her. They were married on May 13, 2010, in Rusk County.
Ron’s legacy is one of strength, loyalty, courage, and compassion. He served his family, his country, and the State of Texas with honor and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his service, but also for his kindness, his humor, and the unwavering love he showed to those closest to him.
Ron is survived by his wife of almost 16 years, Claudia Duncan of Kilgore, son, Matthew Duncan of Foley, Alabama, son and daughter-in-law Cody and Jen Duncan of West Fargo, North Dakota, daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Ivan Rojas of Overton, son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Tessa Lopez of Nacogdoches, granddaughters Alexandra Rojas of Overton and Olivia Lopez of Nacogdoches, sisters, Tracy Green of Austin and Wanda Barber of Longview, cousins, Jason and Christi Parker of New London, and his beloved furbabies, Lexy and Cooper, who are searching for and missing him in his absence.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
