Ronald Hardy Cummins Sr's Obituary
Memorial service for Ronald H. Cummins, Sr., 80 , Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm and services starting at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Ronnie went to be with the Lord in the early afternoon of June 22, 2015.
Ronnie was born in Longview on June 23, 1934 to loving parents, James and Lorene Cummins. He attended Pine Tree High School where he was an All-District Guard in Football his senior year; he was also outstanding in track and field where he set a number of records. He graduated in 1953 from high school and joined the US Marine Corps where he served this country faithfully through the Korean War, and gained the rank of Sergeant, and served as a drill instructor. Following his time in the military, he became a commercial pilot and flew as a crop-duster; he also worked as a home builder and in the oil fields around Longview; and was a very accomplished artist and sculptor.
Ronnie was a 32 degree Mason and endowed member of the 1396 Pine Tree Lodge, and also a member of the Scottish Rite.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorene; as well as his brothers, Jim, Joe, and Bob Cummins. Those that are left to cherish the memories include his wife of 56 years, Joan Cummins; son, Ron Cummins Jr.; daughter, Karen Cummins Creese; brother, Fred Cummins; grandchildren Amanda Page Harlan and her husband Keith, and Shane Page; great-grandchild, Luke Harlan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
