Ronald Wayne Boorman Sr's Obituary
Ronald Wayne “PaPaw”, Boorman, Sr. 79, of Longview Texas, passed away peacefully with family by his side in Longview on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 2:48 PM. He was born to the late Pearl and Roy Boorman, Sr. on November 3, 1937 in Alameda, California. He was the second of two sons. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1955. After attending the University of Kentucky, Ron was Specialist Fourth class in the US Army at Fort Knox in Louisville, Kentucky. He married his loving wife, Shirley on February 25, 1961 and moved to Longview. He spent many years in the retail business owning Ron’s Cycle Shop, Bike World of Tyler, Bike Xpress-Longview, Alpine Golf Course and Boorman Properties. He was of Baptist faith and loved the Lord. Ron liked playing golf, fishing and greatly enjoyed playing card games every Tuesday and Thursday with his buddies at Alpine Golf Course. He shared a passion of Photography with his brother and grandson. He fancied making specialty gifts in in his woodshop. Ron loved being a “Papaw” to his grandchildren most of all. He enjoyed being at every event they had and active in all aspects of their lives. He would play games and be at all of their events. Papaw was their biggest fan, supporter, cheerleader, coach, mentor and most of all, their best friend. He was deeply loved by them all!
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Boorman of Longview; his two sons, Ronald Wayne Boorman, Jr. and wife Janette, and Brian Bruce Boorman; Papaw’s grandchildren; Ronald Wayne “Tripp” Boorman,III, Hunter Boorman, Hayner Boorman, Conner Boorman and Jordan Maness, all of Longview, Texas; His brother Roy Boorman and wife Juanita of Yorba Linda, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. The family will greet friends and loved ones for a time of viewing and visitation one hour prior to the services.
