Rolla K. Stookey
Funeral services for Rolla K. Stookey, 77, of Longview will be held at Ten O'clock AM Saturday August 2, 2008 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Reverend Arnold Schlueter officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Stookey passed away Wednesday July 30, 2008 in Longview.
He was born December 4, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Wallace Daniel and Georgia Calderwood Stookey. He was a retired pressman for the Longview News Journal; he also was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army. He attended schools in Ohio and Louisiana and attended Kilgore College and he attended Little Flock Baptist Church.
He is survived by his three daughters, Ronda Canci and husband John and Donna Cargill and husband Lee both of Longview; Linda Dewhirst and husband Dan of Rochester, PA.; two brothers, Dean Stookey and wife Janet of Xenia, Ohio; Kent Stookey and wife Barbara of West Melton, Ohio; sister, Christine Hunter and husband George of Xenia, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chad, Dustin, and Dayton Cargill, Melissa Simmons and Briar Dewhirst, two great-grandchildren, Parker Simmons and Preston Kirkland several nieces and nephews, special aunt Anne Stookey and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Bee Brister Stookey parents, Wallace Daniel and Georgia Calderwood Stookey, brothers, Richard Eugene Stookey, Arthur Lee Stookey, Sister, Patricia Crawford, brother, Alvin Stookey.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Little Flock Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday August 1, 2008 from 6pm-8pm.
