Roger R. Mizell
Funeral services for Roger R. Mizell, 68, of Hallsville will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 4, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Dr. David Massey officiating. Interment will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. He passed away Tuesday morning at his residence in Hallsville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Roger was born March 6, 1942 in Hallsville to John and Bertha Mizell. He was retired from Upshur Rural Electric Co-op after 39 years service as a service man for the entire western part of Harrison County. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Hanau Germany for 26 months and was honorably discharged at the rank of SP4. He was in the Gold Patriots 18th Artillery Group. Roger was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. local 4002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hallsville. Roger?s motto was ?A Man?s Family Is His Greatest Treasure?.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny Joe Mizell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 15 years, Shirley Mizell of Hallsville; children, Tina Marie Smith of Naples, FL, David Mizell and wife Dale Ann of Hallsville and Randy Mizell and wife Carrie of Ft. Worth; step-children, Rebecca Ganong and husband Mark of White Oak, Sharon Phillips and husband Dennis of Hallsville and Brenda Gribble and husband Kevin of Brunswick, GA; brother, James Mizell and wife Etta Rae of Hallsville; sisters, Betty McCraken and husband Johnny and Patsy Thornton and Johnny all of Hallsville; 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
