Roger Anthony McKay's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Roger Anthony McKay, Sr who left us peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on October 1, 1973, in Arlington, Texas, to parents Johnny Ray and Mary Ellen McKay, Roger filled our lives with warmth and laughter.
Roger lived in Henderson, Texas, where he worked at Herchel's Restaurant serving as both a cook and cashier. He developed his culinary skills over the years and he truly had a gift for whipping up delicious meals that brought people together. He also found joy in his role as a father, passing on his love for music to his son, Roger McKay Jr. With that love of music, he often joined a group of fellow church members to sing on Friday nights at his workplace, enjoying a meaningful time of fellowship with others. He had a genuine knack for making people feel welcome, whether it was through a delicious meal or a friendly smile. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, where he turned to God during challenging times, finding strength in his faith. Known for his kindness, Roger was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a few words of wisdom with anyone in need. He had a passion for cars, particularly Ford Mustangs, and loved to talk about them at any opportunity.
Roger will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Ray McKay. He leaves behind his loving mother, Mary McKay; beloved children Lindsey Page McKay, Mason Paul House, Maddison Hobbs McKay, Bree Nicole McKay, and Roger Anthony McKay, Jr. ,his siblings, Travis Splinter, Angela Coen, and Randy McKay.
