Robert C. Marks' Obituary
Funeral services for Bob Marks, 74, of Longview, will be 4 PM Monday, October 24, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church of Longview with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Interment will follow in Elderville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Rader Funeral Home.
Bob was born in Nevada, Missouri. He spent his early years in Miami, Oklahoma and graduated from Miami High School. In 1951 Bob married Marilea Burke. They moved to Muskogee, Ok. and in 1959, moved to Longview. In 1960, Bob began working for LeTourneau where he worked for 35 years. Bob was transferred to Houston from 1970 to 1979 and later moved back to Longview.
Bob was an elder at First Presbyterian Church and also served on the board at Camp Gilmont. Bob belonged to the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a Houston Astro and Sooner Fan. Bob coached little league baseball in Longview and won the city championship while coaching the Cats and the Pirates. Bob also coached church basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Margaret Marks Summers, and a son: Danny Marks. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilea and sons: Bobby Marks and wife Aila of Sugarland, Bill Marks and wife Karen of Houston; daughter in law: Anne Tostengard Marks; brother: Donald Marks and wife Kitty; grandchildren: Kathy, Holly, Ingrid, Evan, Kira, Alexandra and Jenna.
Pallbearers will be Carlos ?Scooter? Griffin, Jimmy Neely, Lenny Mobbs, Kenny Mobbs, Keith Mobbs, Randy Pratt, Paul Griffin and Mike Craig. A close family friend, Charlotte Mobbs, will sing at the service.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Camp Gilmont, 6075 State Hwy 155N, Gilmer, Texas 75644.
