Wayne's Obituary
Robert 'Wayne' Addy went home to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, June 10, 2012 ending a courageous battle with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. A service celebrating his life will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, TX at 2 pm. Visitation will be at 1pm at the church before his celebration service. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park. Wayne was born October 9, 1957 in Dallas, Texas to John 'Chief' Addy and the late Wanda Hood Addy.
Wayne worked as a process engineer most of his career in the Dallas and Arkansas area and eventually in East Texas, where he met and married his wife, Neta Mize in October 2000. Wayne graduated from Grapevine High School in 1976 and he graduated from Kilgore Junior College with an Associate of Science degree and later obtained his BSME from UT Tyler in May 2010. Wayne was ordained as a deacon in the Baptist church as a young man.
Wayne was an avid sports fan, enjoyed traveling to such places as Surprise, Arizona for the Texas Rangers spring training. We were able to go to Alaska to see one of his sons get married and stay a few extra days to enjoy that majestic land. He treasured their memories from their honeymoon visit to Lake Tahoe. Wayne's last trip was to the Sequoia National Park in California to see the 'big trees' with his children and grandchildren. Wayne also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Wayne enjoyed playing 42, chicken foot and Mexican train dominoes with his wife and family every chance he could carouse a group together.
He was always laughing and smiling, enjoying each day as a new experience, never a dull moment. He enjoyed sharing that joy on a daily basis through his faith and sweet spirit that will truly be missed every day.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Hood Addy and grandfather, Leonard Wayne Hood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Neta Mize Addy; his son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Sarah from Guam; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Courtney of Altus, Oklahoma; son, Daniel of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Rachel of Shreveport, LA; 2 grandchildren, Aurora and Lydia; father, John "Chief" Addy of Chicota, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Quinton and Karen of Colleyville, Texas; brother, John Ross of Grapevine, Texas; grandmother, Geneva Asbil of Grapevine, Texas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
On behalf of Wayne and Neta, a special "Thank you" to Mike and Renee Martin for their constant love, support and care. Wayne enjoyed our pets Sunshine a Miniature Pincher and Red Ranger an Akita cross dog that Wayne rescued from the local shelter as a puppy.
