Robert W. Humke's Obituary
Robert W. Humke, 79, went to his heavenly home on March 7, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. His funeral services will be held March 11, 2010 at 10:00am at Spring Hill First Baptist Church with Reverend Wayne Spanhanks and Wayne Haney officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Wednesday, March 10, from 6 to 8 PM.
Born in Kellerville, IL on July 2, 1930 to LeRoy & Ruth Humke. He was a proud United States Air Force retiree valiantly serving in the Korean and Vietnam War. Robert retired at the Atomic Support Agency Bossier Base in Bossier City, Louisiana after 20 years of service. After retirement from the military, he worked for 25 years in the trucking industry.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ruth and nine children; Mike and his wife Linda of Elm Grove, LA, LeRoy and his wife Kari of Stansbury Park, UT Sharon and her husband Tony of Longview, Darrel and his wife Donna of San Antonio, Rex of Farmersville, TX, Karen of Longview, Norma and her husband Dan of New Braunfels, TX, Rick and his wife Sherri of Keller, TX and Nancy and her husband Danny of Longview. His family also includes 25 grandchildren, David, Brian, Stacey, Jake, Robert "Bubba", Dana, Doug, Rachel, Billy, Bryan, Wendy, George, Julie, Alexis, Amanda, Danny, Lauren, Carlea, Sean, Chelsea, Ashlea, Halea, Garrett, Austin, & Tyler. 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, brother Donald and his wife Alice of Minneapolis, MN, step-brother Glen and his wife Kay of Woonsocket, SD, and lifelong friend Shotgun and his wife Lois of Thibodeaux, LA. He will also be missed by his two dogs Penny and Pepper and his grand-dog Harley. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the following doctors: Warden, Shea, Sharma, Germanwalla, and all the nursing staff of Longview Regional Hospital who cared for him.
