Robert Louis Pickard's Obituary
Funeral services for Robert Louis Pickard, 77, of Longview, will be 2 PM Saturday at Greggton United Methodist Church with Reverend Lynne Settlemyre, officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Mausoleum with Masonic rites. The family will greet friends at Rader Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Friday.
Mr. Pickard passed away Wednesday afternoon in a local hospital.
A native of Wheeling, WV, he was born November 11, 1926 to Edward and Mary Pickard and had lived in Longview since 1978 coming from Shelby, Ohio. He was president of Lytton Steel in Daingerfield, TX for 11 years prior to his retirement, a member of Greggton United Methodist Church and Pine Tree Masonic Lodge. In Shelby, Ohio he was general manager of sales and marketing for Copperweld Steel, was past president of the Chamber of Commerce and United Fund, a board member of Junior Achievement and a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd degree Mason and also a Shriner.
Mr. Pickard served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper.
Survivors include his wife: Helen Maree Barrows Pickard of Longview; Daughters:Diane Pickard-Richardson and husband Burton of Oak Park, Ill, and Gayle Pickard-Fishman and husband Michael of Englewood, NJ; Son:Bart Pickard and wife Julie of Allen, TX; Brother: James Pickard and wife Betty of Columbus, Ohio; Grandchildren: Jana Pickard-Richardson, Robin
Pickard-Richardson, Alex Pickard, Hannah Pickard and Elizabeth Pickard. Mr. Pickard was preceded in death by his brothers: Ed and Jack Pickard.
