Robert E. Laubenstein Jr.'s Obituary
MSgt Robert Ellsworth Laubenstein, Jr (Retired) age 76 entered the gates of Heaven on December 6, 2024. Robert was born on April 29, 1948, in Danville, PA to his parents Robert and Lois Laubenstein. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend who truly embodied what it meant to care for others and be there when it really mattered. Our hero sadly fought his last battle after a yearlong heart issue and complications from a dog bite infection.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lois Laubenstein.
Robert leaves to cherish his love, his wife of 39 years, Sharon Laubenstein, his son Joshua Laubenstein (Chelsea), daughter Lisa Watts (Donald), son Michael Anderson and daughter Dixie Cearnal. Robert also has grandchildren Austin Fox, Branden Fox (Corrinn), Robert Fox, Abigail Rhodes (Joshua), Emi Cearnal and great grandchild Amari Fox that he was unable to meet. He also leaves behind his sister Kathy Henry (Milton) and brother Richard Laubenstein, as well as a nephew, Skye Henry and niece, Dana Molden.
MSgt Robert E. Laubenstein, Jr (Retired) joined the USAF in November 1967. After basic training and first assignment he was then sent to Da Nang, Viet Nam where he was an aircraft mechanic throughout Viet Nam. Afterwards he had short assignments throughout the world including England, Turkey, Japan, and Spain. While at Dyess AFB, Abilene, TX he was the crew chief of the first B1 bomber. He was then sent to SAC Headquarters at Offutt AFB, Bellevue, NE working various programs. His retirement duty station was at Barksdale AFB, Bossier City, LA retiring November 1, 1995.
After retirement he worked for Trinity Industries as a Quality Welding Inspector for 10 years and then worked for General Dynamics as a Quality Inspector for OSHA compliance, retiring finally in April 2016.
Services will be held at Breakthru Church, 1412 Preston Dr, Longview, TX 75604 with Pastor Jan Simmons officiating.
