Robert L. McGee
Robert L. McGee passed away February 26, 2007 in a Longview hospital. He was born May 17, 1921 in Caldwell County, Texas and attended Austin public schools.
Mr. McGee was in Panama 3.5 years with the civil service and later stationed in Italy with the signal corp. After the service, he returned to Austin and owned and operated Austin Lock and Safe Company until 1953 when he went to work for Texas Utilities in Rockdale, Texas, retiring from there in 1977. In 1983, he moved to Reklaw, Texas where he lived for 24 years before moving to Longview in 2004.
In his younger days, he was an avid pilot owing his own plane and flying the love of his life to their honeymoon in the year 1951.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his parents, M.L and Winnie McGee and brother, Bruce.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theda R. McGee; two sons, B.B. McGee and wife Pam of Nederland and Richard McGee and wife Jeanne of Longview; five grandchildren: Erin Morgan of Port Neches, Robert McGee of Houston, Bradley McGee of Longview of Longview, Chelsey McGee of Longview and Lauren McGee of Nederland and three great grandchildren.
Preceding cremation, a private ceremony was held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
