Robert L. Floyd's Obituary
Funeral services for Robert Lanxon "Bob" Floyd will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Mobberly Baptist Church Longview, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Glynn Stone. Visitation will be held Monday, August 31, 2009, time at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Bob was born June 25, 1946 in Baytown, Texas, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 29, 2009. Bob served proudly in the United States Army and was a graduate of Baylor University, Baylor College of Medicine: Nursing Anesthesia Master's Program and was employed by Good Shepherd Medical Center as a CRNA for the past 22 years.
Bob was an example of living a joyful Christ-filled life to his family and all who knew him. His joy for life and love for people were contagious. He attended Mobberly Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was a member of the praise team and adult choir, and was a leader who was deeply committed to growing the Kingdom. Bob enjoyed spending time with friends and family, hunting, fishing and supporting the Baylor Bears and Longview Lobos.
Of deepest importance to Bob were his faith, family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lesa Lavengco Floyd, daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay and David Nordyke of Dallas and son, Taylor Floyd of Longview. He is also survived by his parents, Robert W. and Uletta Floyd, of Baytown, father and mother-in-law, Gene and Sybil Lavengco of Lake Charles, Louisiana, sister, Elizabeth Bunting and family, brothers-in-law, Gene and Michael Lavengco and families along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
