Robert J. Cannon's Obituary
Robert "Bobby" Jackson Cannon born on December 20, 1926, in Shreveport, LA, and passed away on March 22, 2011, in Longview, TX. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Davis Cannon and two daughters, Sharon Atkins and her husband, Philip and Shelley Cannon-Frederick and her husband, Mark. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nicole Atkins-Johnson, Thomas Jack Hilton, and Adam Brinson Atkins and their spouses, along with three great-grandchildren. His maternal aunt, Louise Love and numerous cousins, nieces and friends, survived Mr. Cannon.
Bobby was a graduate of Longview High School, class of 1945. He proudly served in the US Army in Germany during WWII.
He was employee of Mid-Valley Pipeline for 42 years in the Engineering Department. He was a member of First Christian Church, Longview, TX. He also organized and operated the Shade Wood Saddle Club in the late 50's and early 60's and designed several houses in Longview and the surrounding area.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julias Amedy "Jac" Cannon, Mildred Love Cannon Henderson, and sister, Carolyn Cannon Mosley.
Serving, as pallbearers will be Thomas Hilton, Y.D. Hutchings, Mark Frederick, Phil Atkins, Martin Alamanza and Tom Bales. In leau of flowers, donations to Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Longview TX.
Family would like to thank the caregivers: Y. D. Hutchings, Sonia Moore and Lisa Williams for their faithful service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM today at in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
