Robert Earl Holloway's Obituary
Robert Earl “Bob” Holloway Sr. passed away peacefully at Treviso Nursing Home in Longview on Saturday, January 16th, 2026. Bob was born to Helen and James Lowell Holloway Sr on February 3rd, 1937. He was a 6th generation native of Longview and Great Great Grandson of O.H. Methvin Jr., a founder of Longview.
Bob started working at a young age at both family businesses: Lowell Holloway Furniture and Lowell’s Nursery. He also was employed at Schlitz Brewery in Longview and at one point had number one seniority at the brew house. Bob was also in the National Guard where he was activated in the Berlin Crisis of 1961.
With his service behind him he started Bob’s Nursery in 1966 on the corner of Highway 80 and High Street in Longview. Just over a decade later, and needing to expand, Bob opened a 5 Acre Nursery at 2100 Judson Rd and named it New Orleans Gardens where he had great success. He ran it dedicatedly until he retired and sold it to his youngest son, Rober Holloway Jr.
When he wasn’t working, Bob enjoyed playing golf, bowling and most of all collecting antiques, of which he had a large collection, he was twice featured in publications for his collections. He also loved history, especially local history, furthermore he loved Watching sports with his family. Bob’s life was centered around a great work ethic and a strong desire to help others.
Bob is survived by his children, Richard Holloway and Robert Holloway Jr; sisters Claire Holloway and sister-in-law Shirley Holloway; grandchildren, Addison Holloway, Baxter Holloway, Hazel Holloway, Kaylah Holloway and Phoebe Holloway; nieces and nephews Scott and Loida Jordan, Donny and Lisa Jordan, and Karrie and JJ Shivers, Holly McKnight, Kelli and Mike Harrod, and Tommy and Tracie Adams, Rick Fopay, Monica and Bobby Mott, Kristi and Ben Hall; and special friend Carolyn Anderson. He is preceded in death by his son, Steve Terry; brothers Richard Alton Holloway, who was killed in Vietnam, and James Lowell Holloway Jr.; sister Barbara Frances Holloway and nephew Marty Jordan
