Robert W. Hardwick's Obituary
Robert W. Hardwick, 81, passed away December 9, 2015 in the early morning at his home. Robert was born on August 1st 1934 in Rochester MN. The second child of Dr. Robert S and Dorothy B Hardwick.
The family moved to Longview in 1944. Robert and his siblings John and Jane grew up on Young St in Longview.
Robert graduated from Longview High School in 1952. He then went on to graduate from North Texas University in 1956 where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He later received a degree from Stephen F. Austin College in 1963.
Robert married Katherine Rosalyn McAdams in May 1959 in the First Methodist Church of Marshall. They have one son, James “Jim” of Longview. Robert was also a long time member of Greggton United Methodist Church.
He retired in 1996 after 25 years of service with Axelson, Inc. He then spent about 15 years in his second home on Caddo Lake, hunting, fishing, and boating.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rosalyn, his parents, Dr. Robert S and Dorothy B Hardwick, his sister Jane Hammond of El Paso and brother John Hardwick of Longview. He leaves behind one son, James “Jim” and wife Paula of Longview; grandchildren Sam of San Antonio, and Jason and Jaquie Martin; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Jons of Marshall and Rosa King Hardwick of Longview; brother-in-law Joe Hammond of El Paso; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Robert will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12pm. The family would like to greet friends at the Funeral Home the hour prior to the service for a visitation. Robert will then be laid to rest beside Rosalyn. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Elite Home health as well as the excellent care of Beverly.
