The friendship my family shared with the Embrey family was one of the happy gifts of my childhood and I was blessed to have known Mr. Embrey. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the best fishing stories ever. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him, but we know we'll get to hear more of those good stories in Heaven. I am not sure I can express my gratitude properly but I will try. I came to Palestine shortly after Bob left in 1963. I worked at the shop he worked for. I met Bob shortly after arriving. We had several conservations thru the 60's and when I left in 1970 and moved to Jacksonville, I met him in a store in Jacksonville. He walked up behind me and said (what are you doing over here) I told him I had left Palestine and lived there now. He thought about that for a while and said I'll be in touch. He got with his partners and made me a offer I could not refuse. I went back to Palestine and we moved the shop to Longview and called it Remtex. I worked there until 1978 and then came to Jacksonville to start my own shop. When I worked for Bob we talked daily and after I left we talked weekly on the phone. It was started by how many fish we caught last weekend, then we talked shop about machines and work we were doing. We got ideas from each other. We helped solve each others problems that arrive from being in business. Bob was always a Christian in every thing he done (I know where he is today) We spent a lot of time on the lake together and some trips to Colorado elk and deer hunting. Bob was one of my best friends and was responsible for helping me in this business. He gave me a chance to learn this business and by that helped my whole family. I will be eternally grateful for that. One quick fish story. In the early 70's I asked him how he could catch so many fish and other people couldn't. He said you have to put the mental work on them. I asked what he meant. He said you have to think like a fish but a lot of people don't have a big enough tackle box.
