Robert E. "Bob" Tompkins' Obituary
A celebration of the life of Robert E. ?Bob? Tompkins, 74, of Longview, will be held at Rosewood Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Thursday, August 31, 2006, at 2PM, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with Mr. James David Cobb officiating.
Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
Bob was born December 25, 1931 in Pelly, Texas to Elmer and Ida Reath Tompkins.
He had lived in the Longview community since 1934. Bob married his wife, Ellen Cobb Tompkins, on May 24, 1952 in Longview.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, had retired from Texas Eastman after 39 years of service as a production planner, and had served his country in the US Air Force in the Korean War from 1951 - 1955.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM.
Mr. Tompkins was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Otis Tompkins and Lester Tompkins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, of Longview; daughters, Donna Lynne Keller,
Karen Elaine Palmer; son, Robert Curtis Tompkins; six grandchildren, Bryan Cox,
Benjamin Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Elizabeth Faulkner, Matthew Tompkins, Amanda
Tompkins; and two great grandchildren, Drew Johnson and Cade Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity or church of choice.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Heart?sWay Hospice of Northeast Texas, Rehab at Home and Dr. Larry Frase and the staff at the Cancer Center.
