Robert Lewis Eastland's Obituary
Robert Lewis Eastland, 89, of Houston, passed away on September 20, 2023. Robert, fondly
known as Bob, was born to Alice and Lewis on March 4, 1934 in Longview, Texas. Upon
graduation from Longview High School, Bob joined the Army, taking him to Germany. After
leaving the military and attending Sam Houston State University, Bob moved to Houston and
began his career in the trucking industry. He would also meet his first wife Charlene in Houston
and together, relocated to the New Orleans area. After a few years, Bob desired to start his
own company and with Charlene relocated back to Houston. Bob would start Waste Systems
Equipment in 1975. The company is celebrating its 48 th year in business in 2023. Bob was an
avid angler and enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing with friends and family. Bob
was a long-standing board member for the Coastal Conservation Association, CCA. Bob had the
personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his laugh was
infectious to everyone around him. Bob is survived by sons Will and his wife Kendal, Greg, and
Chris; and granddaughters Peyton and Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Charles and
nephews Brian, Mike, and Mark. Bob was predeceased by his parents Alice and Lewis, and
second wife Lee. Bob’s family will host visitation on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 6:00 PM –
8:00 PM at the Rader Funeral Home in Longview. The funeral service will be the following day;
Saturday, October 7, 2023, 10:30 AM in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home.
