Robert H. (Bob) Cain's Obituary
Robert H. (Bob) Cain died on November 13, 2013 in Longview, TX. He was born on July 9, 1932 to Garnet and Grace Cain and grew up on a farm outside Bynum, TX. He was married for 58 years to Jo Cain and raised three children, Cindy, Andy and Clay in Longview, TX.
He was an Army Veteran having served in Korea. He worked most of his life as a life insurance salesman and attained the designation of a Certified Life Underwriter. After retiring from life insurance, he started a successful overhead door business and ran that until shortly before his death. He could fix just about anything. He was a longtime member, Deacon, and Choir member at First Baptist Church in Longview and the music leader of the Businessmen's Bible Class. He also served as the Commander of the Civil Air Patrol squadron at Gregg County Airport. He was a past member and past President of the Kiwanis' Club of Longview.
Bob and Jo both came from large, wonderful families and so enjoyed getting together. Bob enjoyed fishing, music of all kinds, western movies and especially anything with John Wayne. He was a great storyteller, a keen spade's partner, and a kind and gentle soul. Always eager to help a person in need, he would have given the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nell Ruth, and daughter, Cindy. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo, his son, Andy and wife, Lisa, son, Clay and wife, Susan. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew and wife, Missy, Matthew, Clayton, and Robert, and great grandchild, Madalynn. He is also survived by his bothers Bill, John and wife Janis, and his sister Marie. Finally, he is survived by many very special and loving in-laws, nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of A400 at Good Shepherd Medical Center.
