Robert was born on October 3, 1958, in Longview, TX, to parents Douglas and Norma Ashmore. He played football for the Longview Lobos until his graduation, he then attended Kilgore Jr. College and UT Austin. Following his time at UT he soon became a very respected Landman for over 40 years in Oil and Gas, founding Maverick Land Services in 2003.
Robert had a love for family and sports. He treasured every moment that he got to spend with his grandchildren throughout the years. He was instrumental in the creation of the Hallsville Baseball Association Complex. He also loved football and would be found rooting for the Dallas Cowboys each time they played. He attended the Inaugural game of the Cowboys Stadium in 2009 with his 3 sons, Judson, Spencer, and Holden. His love for music was also strong and he was active in attendance whenever possible to any music event that was held by his lifelong friend, Ricky Lynn Gregg. He had been a former member of the local Corvette Club and could be caught from time to time with the hammer down and catching a little wind. This also applied to his Harley Davidson which he loved riding in former years with his wife , Madonna, on many beautiful trips throughout their marriage.
Robert was a member of the Old Shiloh Baptist Church near his home in Long Branch. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful follower. In his work for his Lord over the course of his life, he contributed much time to catfish and barbeque fundraisers and was instrumental in helping to raise the God’s Covenant of Deliverance Church of Longview, by his dear and lifelong friends, Randy and Linda Writt.
Robert was preceded in death by his Grandparents Lovenia Linton and Jesse Lee Ashmore and Nita Hayes and William B. Clancy.
