Rob Roy Thompson's Obituary
A memorial service for Rob Roy "Tommy" Thompson will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 30, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek and Dr. W.D. O'Neal officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Thompson passed away Saturday morning. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
Rob Roy Thompson was born on March 6, 1924 in Hunt County, Texas to John and Grace Thompson. After High School, he proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1942-1945 in the South Pacific Theatre. He was married to Frances Campbell Thompson for more than 60 years. Rob was employed at Texas Eastman as an accountant from 1951-1983 and after retirement he drove for Pegues Hurst Ford until 2008. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, and the Men's Class Teacher. He enjoyed retirement living on Lake Cherokee, traveling the country, and he was an avid sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his baby daughter, Jann; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Campbell Thompson; daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Jim Webb; son and daughter-in-law, Rob Roy Thompson, JR and Rebecca; grandchildren and their spouses, Randy C. and Annemarie Cook, and Rachel and Cory Worthey; brother and sister-in-law, David C. and Nelda Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
