R. L. ''Rags'' Williamson's Obituary
Funeral services for R. L. ''Rags'' Williamson, 75, of White Oak, will be 2 PM Friday in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Richie Hamm officiating.  Interment will follow in White Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Williamson died Wednesday morning at his residence.
A native of the Gilmer-Pritchett community, Upshur County, Texas, he was born November 13, 1925 to W. W. and Elizabeth Williamson. Mr. Williamson was a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ and the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge. He served his country during World War II in the US Navy as a Seabee.  While in the Navy, he served in the South Pacific, Guam, and the Guadalcanal regions.
Since moving to White Oak in 1958, he had been a pillar of the White Oak community as a home builder and real estate developer.  He was a member of the White Oak School Board for six years, serving as president of the board during 1973-1974.  In 1974, he received a Community Service Award.  In 1976, he became Mayor of White Oak.  In 1986, he received both the Man of the Year award from the White Oak Chamber of Commerce and the Fireman of the Year Award from the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department.  The past year, he was honored as the Grand Marshall of the Roughneck Days Parade in White Oak.
He is survived by his wife: Ida Lou Williamson to whom he had been married 56 years; Sons:  Jimmy Glen Williamson of Houston and Robert Wayne Williamson of Atlanta, GA.; Daughter: Ouida Jane Williamson Ashworth of Tallahassee, FL.; Grandchildren: Marcus and Brian Ashworth, Thomas, James and John Williamson.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM
