Rita Pearl DeBerry's Obituary
Funeral services for Rita P. DeBerry, 77, of Ore City, will be 10 AM Thursday in the First United Methodist Church of Ore City with Reverends Kenn A. Munn and James Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Ore City Cemetery. Rader Funeral Home of Longview in charge of services.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home 6 to 8 PM Wednesday.
Mrs. DeBerry died Tuesday morning in a Longview nursing home surrounded by her loved ones.
A native of Marshall, Texas she was born November 3, 1924. Mrs. DeBerry was raised in Spring Hill, Texas and graduated from Spring Hill High School. She attended Stephen F. Austin University where she received her masters in physical education. She returned to Spring Hill Schools and taught there for a number of years. Mrs. DeBerry was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ore City and for many years played the piano and organ.
She married Gaston W. DeBerry, Jr. December 21, 1947 and they owned and operated DeBerry Butane Gas Company of Ore City, Texas.
Mrs. DeBerry was deeply dedicated to her family and church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary DeBerry, her parents, Samuel and Mable Rundell and her husband.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law: Gaston ?Bubba? DeBerry, III and Hughleen of Ore City; Grandsons: Carl and Noah Gray of Ore City and Timon Gray of Gilmer; Sister in law: Frances Dalrymple; Special friend: Nellie Owens of Ore City and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
