Rita Faye Cox's Obituary
Rita Sledge Bowen Cox, 78, of White Oak, TX passed away on January 25, 2025, with her daughters by her side.
Rita was born on June 23, 1946, to Buck Sledge and Dorothy Morrison in Longview, Texas. She attended school in Henderson. She loved to fish and she held tournaments at Lake O’ the Pines until she was no longer able.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dean and James Sledge; and her daughter, Regina Bowen Coppedge.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Renee Leverett and husband Michael of Kilgore, and Michelle Bowen of Longview. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Cassity of Longview and numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren: Michael Boyd and Maria of New Braunfels, TX, Michaela Davis and Ryan of Kilgore, Brooke Reed and Kevin of Spring Hill, TN., Quentin Freeman of Longview, Kennedy Leverett of Kilgore, DJ Freeman of Longview, and Matthew Alvarez of Longview, TX. And by her great grandchildren, Levi Davis, Garrett Davis, Sebastion Boyd, and Brynleigh Reed.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Accent Care Hospice, to Dr. Shen for all of your care of mom all these years and a very special thanks to her nurse and caregivers, Kayla White and Sabrina Smith. You both brought her so much love and joy. And a special thank you to family friend, Monica Wiley, for all you did as well.
