Richard Edward “Ricky” Semlear
Graveside services for Richard Edward “Ricky” Semlear, 60, of Longview will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Dick Lindsey officiating. He passed away Wednesday, July 15, at his residence in Longview. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Semlear was born February 18, 1955 in Longview to Vernon and Yvonne Semlear the youngest of 3 children and was a lifetime resident of the Longview and East Texas areas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a Master’s degree in education. Before retiring, his teaching career carried him all over East Texas, including Harmony, Waskom, Longview, Arp and Ferris. Mr. Semlear enjoyed teaching in small schools. Although English was his favorite, he was very fluent in Spanish. He also worked for Sitel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Semlear.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Joe Semlear and wife Mary Jo of Kilgore; his sister-in-law, Linda Semlear of Longview; his faithful dog “Precious” and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
