Richard S. Glasgow's Obituary
Services for Richard S. "Steve" Glasgow, 72, of Longview, will be 10 AM Thursday, August 16th, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Reverend Bobby E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August12th at Margaret's House/Beacon Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born January 27, 1940 in Gilmer, TX to Richard W. and Ruth Glasgow. He was a 1958 graduate of Longview High School, and then proudly served in the U.S. Army. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Dianne Tidwell, with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 1st. He was a longtime member of Greggton First Baptist Church. Over the years, Steve worked for many companies as an accountant, most recently at Russell and Sons Construction. He was also part-time bookkeeper for the Cherokee Club from 1969-2011. Steve enjoyed golf and looked forward to playing at Oak Forest Golf Course on Saturday mornings with his friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, James F. "Jim" and Oleta Tidwell.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Dianne; sister, Mary Lee Link and husband Tom of Indianola, IA; children, Scott Glasgow and wife Robin, Stacy McClellan and husband Scott and Kelley Mayeux and husband Andre; grandchildren, Stephanie Glasgow, Braedon Glasgow, Connor Mayeux and Lacy McClellan; nieces Holly Freed and Heather Berg; nephews Tim Link and Steve Link and many wonderful friends.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Sharma and his staff at Texas Oncology, the staff at Margaret's House for the loving care given to our loved one during his final weeks, and Tonya Marmanto and Brenda Jeffery with Beacon Hospice for the exceptional care they provided while he was at home. If desired, donations may be made in Steve's memory to Beacon Hospice.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, August 15th, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
