Richard "Rick" Plaschke's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" William Plaschke, who left us peacefully on September 19, 2025. Born on February 11, 1957, in Longview, Texas. Rick lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for his craft that will never be forgotten.
Rick married his soulmate, Cheryl Jan Ransom, in 1990, and their bond grew stronger over 35 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love and creativity, as Rick took over the family business, Plaschke Jewelers, in 1998. With Jan by his side, they served the Longview community, crafting and repairing beautiful pieces of jewelry that were often a source of joy for many.
Outside of his work, Rick found joy in the simpler things in life. He loved tending to his garden and working the land with his trusty Kubota tractor, creating a beautiful sanctuary that reflected his love for nature. Known for his grilling skills, Rick could often be found BBQing and grilling steaks, always ready to share a meal with family and friends.
Rick is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Richard and Patsy Plaschke. He is survived by his devoted wife Jan, his cherished daughter Emma, and his siblings, Karen (King) Scott and Mike Plaschke. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, Lucky the cat, who was more than just a pet; he was Rick’s ever-present shadow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a cherished memory or story about Rick, as he would have loved to hear how he impacted your life. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time. Rick will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
