Memorial services for Richard Lee Warner, 99, of Longview will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 in the Friendship Room of Buckner Westminster Place, 2201 Horseshoe Ln., Longview, TX 75605 with Dr. Rick Webb officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at his residence at Buckner Westminster Place.
Mr. Warner was born February 21, 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles Francis Warner and Rose Hartwell Warner. He passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at his residence at Buckner Westminster Place. He was retired from The Mead Corporation in Chillicothe and Dayton, Ohio and also Bell Helicopter in Hurst, Texas as a Personnel Manager. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1946 with a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations. On April 5, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas he married Ruth Eloise Washburn of Huron, Ohio, his wife of 69 years.
Mr. Warner served in the U.S. Army as a Captain during WWII in the Armored Cavalry and retired as a Major from the Third Army. He was a member of the Woodlands Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where he was an Elder Emeritus and later joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Longview, Texas. He also sang in the choir and was active in The Stephens Ministry in the Presbyterian Church. He was active in The Readers Theater in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mr. Warner was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dora Soine; and brother, Alan Warner.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ruth Warner; children, Marna Warner Palmer and spouse Kent of Fulton, Missouri, Mark Warner and fiancé Sheila Deymann of Bedminster, New Jersey, Wenda Warner Davis and spouse Tom of Dallas, Texas and Bobbie Warner Niehaus and spouse David of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Dain Palmer and spouse Rachel, Shera Palmer Cook and spouse Jonathan, Ben Davis, Alex Davis, Greg Warner and spouse Lillian, Nick Warner, Bryan Niehaus and Kyle Niehaus; great grandchildren, Hayden Palmer, Milo Palmer, Lillian Cook and Harrison Mark Warner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 504 E. Cotton St., Longview, TX 75601 or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 100 W. Hawkins Pkwy., Suite A, Longview, TX 75605.
