Richard Harelson's Obituary
Richard Ross Harelson was born in Bristow, OK on October 12, 1937 and passed away in Longview, TX on January 2, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Madelyn Harelson.
Richard is survived by his wife Glenda Harelson, his daughter Keri Dawson and husband Robert of Tyler. Step children; Lori Sheldon and husband Jim, Jim Collins and wife Rhonda, and Tim Collins. Grandchildren; Andrew, Evan, Brittany, Owen, Beckett, Camden, Courtney and Chris. He is also survived by his brother John Harelson and wife Sherry and his sister Lenna Kordis.
Richard was an avid walker, getting in at least 4 miles a day. He also loved to boat and fish and was a huge fan of football, most especially the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners. He also enjoyed watching his nephews and grandson play. He worked for General Motors for 30 years and during retirement he worked for Longview ISD as a bus driver for over 15 years. He married his wife Glenda on March 24, 1989 and they were happily married for 25 years. He always said “coldest places to be was on the lake in the morning or watching a game.” He truly enjoyed his Sunday school class at North Longview Baptist Church for many years. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Services for Richard will be 12 noon Monday January 5 at Rader Chapel in Longview. There will be a visitation the day before Sunday January 4 between 4 and 6 pm at Rader’s. Committal services for Richard will be held at Highland Cemetery in Okemah, OK on Tuesday January 6 at 2pm.
