Funeral services for Richard Erskin Shandy, 84, of Longview will be held Thursday, January 3, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Arthur E. Williams, Madera Hilburn, Charles Wilborn and V.P. Perry officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time on Thursday. Mr. Shandy was born to the union of the late Mr. Erskin and Mrs. Johnnie Anna Shandy on September 27, 1917 in the Kearn City, Texas community. This beautiful fulfilling life came to a close on Monday, December 31, 2001 at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. He was reared and graduated from the Kearn City Community Schools, and was the former owner/operator of Kitty?s Cleaners for some 35 to 40 years in California. He later moved to Longview where he resided until his death. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was affiliated with the Bible Way Baptist Church. On March 1, 1964, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris King, and to this union, no children were born. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, and a sister. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and caring wife of 38 years, Mrs. Doris Shandy, a teacher for the Longview I.S.D.; a host of nieces, nephews and close friends of the family; and a young lady he was raised with, Ms. Betsy Howard.
