Richard Lee Carl Sr.'s Obituary
Richard was a devoted husband of 51 years to Vicki, hero and mentor to his two sons, Mac and Spencer, and “Papa Bear” to beloved grandson Brody. He is survived by brother Bruce, and Sisters Carol and Kelly.
But Richard meant so much more to so many. A true renaissance man, he was a Firefighter in his youth, but his zeal for knowledge led him to study and complete degrees in Business, Industrial Technology, and Theology. He was ordained by the Presbyterian and Methodist churches. He retired an oilfield executive, was a licensed pilot, a Navy reservist officer, a Master Mason, and a man of impeccable character and discernment. His wisdom, patience, and grace led countless people to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
His love for teaching and baseball were the perfect ingredients for him to become a beloved “Coach Carl” to many young men. He was a talented hobbyist photographer with an eye for capturing God’s work through lens and shudder. His kindness knew no stranger in God’s creatures, be it horse, dog, child, or man. The void his absence pales in comparison to the joy of his legacy.
For the family, a private memorial service will be held on December 30, 2025, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3505 Elmira Dr, Longview, TX 75605.
