Chief Petty Officer Richard B. ?Dicky? Johnson
Funeral services for Chief Petty Officer Richard B. ?Dicky? Johnson will be held at Two O?clock PM Wednesday April 16, 2003 at Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Johnson passed away Sunday April 13, 2003 in Longview.
He was born July 31, 1935 in Taft, California to Joe and Juanita Johnson who precede him in death. Mr. Johnson retired from the United States Navy after serving thirty years.
While in the Navy he served on the following ships, The U.S.S. Intrepid S.S. Turner Joy, U.S.S. Frontier, U.S.S. Topeka, and the U.S.S. Enterprise, he also served during Viet Nam and the Gulf of Tonkin war.
He is survived by his wife Esther of Longview, children, Jeanette Ainsworth of Tulsa, OK; Ronald Johnson of Slidell, LA; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Jami Love of Gladewater; Jo Ann Miller and husband Herman of Longview; brother, David Pope of Denton, TX; his step-father A.L. ?Sonny? Pope of Gladewater, TX and two nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Consuelo Johnson
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday April 15, 2003 from 6pm until 8pm.
