Reverend Moore released his earthly bonds and joined his Savior, Jesus Christ, in Paradise on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at age 70.
Brother Ken was born February 4, 1939, in Texarkana, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Morgan and Eunice Moore, father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.G. And Nadine London, and son Kevin Lane Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife Ann London Moore; son Kris Warren Moore and wife Linda Moore and their children Sydney and Morgan Moore and Summer Dailey; "daughter" Dee Moore Kennel and husband Lance Kennel of Kilgore and their children Kasey and Kaleb Moore and Joshua and Kristin Kennel; step-mother Ganell Moore of Quitman; brother-in-law Jack London and wife Peggy; sister-in-law Kay Richardson and husband Glenn; one uncle, H.W. Hall of Texarkana and wife Jean; and his four-legged family, Glory and Enoch; as well as a host of friends and loved ones. He graduated from Texas A & M University School of Engineering where he served in the Corps of Cadets, and later served in the Army Reserve. Brother Ken and his wife Ann own RDA Pro Mart with locations in Longview and Tyler.
Brother Ken was a loving husband, father, son, and friend, but most of all, he was a lifeline to the lost, having spent a large part of his life preaching the Gospel.
Brother Ken preached many messages to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission and at various nursing homes in Gregg County and was later pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church near Gladewater.
In 1990 while in Zachary, Louisiana, attending a Bible conference, Ken and Ann heard a sermon based on Isaiah 6:8 "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me." Conferring together later, both Ken and Ann agreed that this was their Lord calling them to service as ministers to the lost and downtrodden. As a result, Ken joined Ann in their jail ministry, serving as Chaplains to incarcerated men and women at the Gregg County Jail in Longview. While serving as Chaplain at the Gregg County Jail, Brother Ken Moore led countless inmates to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt, Kay Johnson, and the staff at Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House for their compassionate care, as well as Fellowship Baptist Church for their presence.
Pallbearers will be Kris Moore, Jack London, Lance Kennel, Glenn Richardson, Stacey Kirkindoll, and Neil Richardson.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 p.m. To 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Brother Ken Moore leaves his many family members and friends to grieve his departure here, but they rejoice that they will one day rejoin him, sitting at the feet of Jesus, worshiping our Lord for Eternity.
